The Opportunity

ISS Facility Services has recently commenced delivery of cleaning and facilities services at the University of Auckland. As part of this transition, we are seeking an experienced Night Cleaning Manager to lead and stabilise night operations across this large, complex, and high-profile campus.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring cleaning operations run smoothly overnight, supporting frontline teams, maintaining strong relationships with University stakeholders, and embedding ISS standards and systems during and beyond the transition period.

You’ll be hands-on, visible, and trusted — someone who can manage people, performance, and pressure in a live university environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all night-shift cleaning operations across the University of Auckland campus

  • Provide direct leadership to supervisors and frontline teams, ensuring staffing levels, coverage, and productivity targets are met

  • Ensure service delivery meets contractual requirements, KPIs, and University expectations

  • Respond to incidents, urgent requests, and escalations during night operations

  • Embed ISS systems, reporting, health & safety, and quality assurance processes

  • Support change management as part of ISS’s transition into the University contract

  • Build strong working relationships with University representatives, security, and internal ISS stakeholders

  • Coach, develop, and performance-manage staff in line with ISS values and policies

About You

You’ll be a confident operations leader who thrives in a night-shift environment and is comfortable managing large teams and complex sites.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in operations or facilities management (cleaning or large-scale services highly desirable)

  • Strong people leadership skills, including performance management and team development

  • Experience working in complex, multi-building environments (e.g. hospitals, universities, airports, large campuses)

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Confidence dealing with stakeholders and managing service expectations

  • A calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure

  • Strong health & safety awareness and compliance mindset

Why Join ISS?

  • Be part of a high-profile contract at New Zealand’s leading university

  • Play a key role in shaping night operations during a significant transition

  • Work for a global organisation with strong systems, structure, and support

  • Opportunities for career progression within a large, stable business
