Facilities Coordinator
Christchurch| Facilities Management
Connecting people and places to make the world work better.
ISS Facility Services is looking for a practical and proactive Facilities Coordinator to join our Christchurch team and support the day-to-day delivery of facilities management services at a major client site.
About the role
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out on site, solving problems and keeping facilities safe, operational and well maintained.
Working alongside the Facility Manager, you'll be a key point of contact for day-to-day facilities issues, reactive maintenance, contractors and planned maintenance activities.
You'll be responsible for:
-
Responding to reactive maintenance requests and minor facility issues.
-
Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance within your skills, qualifications and delegated authority.
-
Completing routine site inspections and identifying defects, hazards and maintenance requirements.
-
Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM), including contractor access, permits, completion checks and follow-up.
-
Coordinating and monitoring contractors and service providers on site.
-
Ensuring work areas are left safe, clean and operational.
-
Creating, updating and closing work orders in CMMS/CAFM systems.
-
Maintaining accurate maintenance, asset and site records.
-
Supporting audits, compliance activities and site inspections.
-
Assisting with incidents, breakdowns and service interruptions and escalating issues where required.
-
Supporting the Facility Manager with day-to-day operational requirements.
-
Communicating planned works, access requirements and service impacts to client stakeholders.
-
Identifying practical opportunities to improve safety, reliability, housekeeping and service efficiency.
-
Providing operational coverage for the Facility Manager when required, following established escalation processes.
Safety is a key part of the role. You'll be expected to follow all ISS and client HSEQ requirements, identify and report hazards and incidents, use appropriate permits and controls, and stop and escalate work that is unsafe or outside your competency.
About you
We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident working independently in a busy operational environment.
You'll ideally bring:
-
Experience in facilities maintenance, building services, property operations or a similar technical environment.
-
A relevant trade, facilities or building-services qualification, or strong comparable practical experience.
-
Experience carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance.
-
The ability to recognise when work requires a licensed trade, specialist contractor or escalation.
-
Experience coordinating contractors or service providers.
-
Strong organisation, prioritisation and record-keeping skills.
-
Good communication and customer-service skills.
-
A safety-first approach and understanding of risk controls and contractor requirements.
-
Experience using CMMS, CAFM or electronic work order systems, or the ability to learn quickly.
-
Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills.
-
The ability to work safely and meet the practical requirements of a hands-on site-based role.
A trade background in carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Experience in manufacturing, food and beverage, FMCG, warehousing or industrial environments would also be beneficial.
Additional qualifications or experience in areas such as GMP, KORE, FSSC, ISO, First Aid, Working at Heights, EWP or Confined Space would be an advantage.
We're looking for someone who is safety-focused, practical, proactive, reliable and accountable, with a genuine commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
